WHat’s Included

  • Client Meeting. We’ll meet in person (if you’re local) or over Skype (if you’re not) to discuss your needs and vision for the project. We’ll talk dimensions, visuals, and timeline. This process helps me get to know you and your business/project goals and figure out how we, as a team, can make the best product possible. I’ll always be available during email to answer any questions or concerns that pop up following this initial meeting.

  • Cover Options. No matter what your project is, I will give you three basic cover options (with multiple color treatments for each design) from which to make your decision. If none of them work for you, I’ll keep tinkering until you’re satisfied, guaranteed.

Interior. I’ll deliver an interior that’s both beautiful and readable. We’ll proofread together to edit away any pesky typos. Included in your initial cost is one round of proofreading changes.

  • Cover Images. Packaged for easy distribution on social media and other marketing needs.

Ready to migrate to Squarespace?

Why Squarespace?

  • I like to use Squarespace for my clients because it offers the most bang per buck against other drag-and-drop webpage editors; it’s easy to use (a few hours in YouTube tutorials will make you a whiz at maintaining your website), it’s beautiful, and it automatically scales to become mobile-friendly. Squarespace is also versatile; you can use it to blog, to sell products, to develop a mailing list, even take orders for your restaurant.

Explore Squarespace’s full deck of features here.

There’s a lot of designers out there. Why pick me?

  • In addition to being a designer, I’m also a writer, and I went to business school. I know what language will resonate with your target market, am adept at choosing the tone that’ll work best with the people you want to reach most. If your website needs a bit of copy here and there to pull it together, you’ll have to look no farther than your designer to make it happen.

  • I provide a customized Squarespace Guide for your website, cataloging the features I’ve built in for you to help you keep your website beautiful and functioning as intended. If you’re local, I’ll even come meet with you and walk through using your website, troubleshooting any problems you might have.

  • As a on-again off-again nonprofit professional, I know how tight money can be for 501(C)3 organizations. That’s why I offer discounts for qualifying nonprofits.

The Power of marketing-informed designs

These three posters were designed for the Midwest Writing Center (Rock Island, IL) to advertise their annual writing conference.

Conference Advertisement

This poster was designed to entice local writers to enroll in the DRC Writers' Conference; its copy is specifically written in an active voice to entice enrollment, promote attendance, and a wide participation in available activities.

Keynote Event Ad

Stylistically set apart from the others, this poster's background features a litany of stills from the Motion Poems themselves. Like all posters in the series, it doubles as advertising for the DRCWC with a clear call to action: register, register, register.

Conference reading ad

While visually quite similar to the general conference advertisement, the copy here is tailored to enticing event participation.

For this particular campaign, I also wrote a number of press releases. We started with a general public awareness approach, but as we grew closer and closer to the conference the press releases became more focused; the announcement gave way to another focused on the workshops offered at the conference to entice registration. As we drew closer to the conference, I centered one press release around the faculty reading and open mic, using this as opportunity to spotlight the conference's faculty; another press release advertised the conference's keynote event, while also highlighting the other free events associated with the conference.

Laced throughout all the press releases was a call to action--we wanted people to not only attend these events, but to register for the conference as well.
