An Album of Songs & Spoken Word Poetry
Featuring a combination of spoken word pieces and full-out rap tracks, this album—written and performed by elementary school students—celebrates the insight of some of Iowa City’s historically underserved voices.
Produced in partnership with the Iowa Youth Writing Project and Iowa Reading Corps, we combined creative writing exercises and proven fluency-building techniques to help students at Fifth Ward Saints North find the words to express themselves in a new medium: rap.
